Evaluation Question 4:

When we received feedback for our rough cut video from our target audience there were a few adjustments they thought we could make they thought we had a large amount of base tracks and we should made by change the amount we bring in the opening 10 seconds. From this feedback we decided to go against our original planning slightly and having certain base tracks at the beginning in the first verse of the of the song and others only in  the second chorus. We also received feedback during our editing stages we continuously asked for feedback at one stage when we added the projector scene into our video our audience said it looked to random so we should stick to the outside night shots. In my group we actually liked how many base tracks we had in the beginning and how we originally planned our video but once we got feedback we actually released it made more sense.

When i asked people what they thought of my ancillary every they all gave me positive feedback.

Advertisment

CD Inside Cover

CD Front Cover

Photoshop editing

Using photoshop has been difficult but also exciting as i have learnt new things, as you can see doing the advert has taken time but it is almost at its completion.

here is me also working on the inside of the cd cover

Outfits I Plan On Using

These are the outfits I plan on making Stephane wear, it is simple yet effective. The mise en scene (outfit) matches the genre of my music video, underground rap artist often wear tracksuits, and i also like the colour of the tracksuit as it is dark and I plan on using greys and blacks for my DigiPak.

FINISHED ANCILLARY

Using Photoshop

Last minute update!

So with the deadline being later on today, I have come in to college very early on my day off (determination!). I am basically finished, just a few bits and bobs to be added then the ancillary misery will be over! So this is where I'm at:

So my advert is basically done, all I am yet to do is add where the album will be available and the magazine ratings. then I think I would have completed.

The inside  of my cover is completed. It is very minimalistic. I chose to do it like this because I think simple is better and more appealing to the eye. As I have previously stated, and you can see throughout my whole ancillary, I have stuck to three main colours: black, grey and white.

How i created my digipak

This is when i first added the static effect
I created my digi pak and advertisement in photoshop. The first thing i did when creating my digipak if choose my background i already knew what i was going put as the background because i like the ideas which i had during the initial mock up. When it came to choosing texts i brought up two different texts and asked people in my class to give me which one they preferred i am glad i did this because it helped me to make the correct decision.
One of the first texts i chose

Second and final text

This is when i first inserted the image

This is when i inserted the spine text and image on cover

This is the image of the tv before i added it to the cover

Overall i felt the whole process went very smoothly. Initially it was slow for me to begin but once i started it was really enjoyable. I didn't have many problems because it was very simple to use i think if i had more time i would have created more covers to give my self more choice and to get a more perfect outcome.

Digipack nearly done!

With the deadline fast approaching (this friday!!!), I am happy to say that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. The outside of my album cover is finally done. What I am yet to complete is the inside of album cover is yet to be finished but it basically is.  What I am yet to start is my advertisement which I will be doing tomorrow.

This is the end result of the outside of my album cover. Here is what I've done:

  • I have stuck to 3 main colours; black, white and grey
  • The three most important things on the album; artist and album name and the tracklist have made to stand out with a small white background behind them using the eraser tool.
  • I chose a font that is not typical and still looks nice
  • I used the only close up of Stephane facing the towards the front that we had taken and removed the white background around him using the magic wand tool.
  • Overall I have tried to make it look as close toa real Album cover as I could

Inside nearly finished: I have chosen the picture of a London street by night as the background to link with the concept of where the artist is from; London. I chose a black and white image to go with the whole grey, black and white colour scheme.
What I am yet to do is put the artist and album name on the cd with the same design as on the outside of the album.

So thats an update of where I am so far, I will update my progress in further blogs. :)

Which Picture To Use For My Album Cover

Here's a little vlog asking my peers about my DigiPak. I was wondering what image of Stephane to use on my front cover, asking for my peers advice really benefited me as I really was confused. I decided to use my original image as he is looking directly into the camera, as he is not a recognisable artist, his face needs to be prominent within the album cover.

EDITING PROCESS

I have found the editing process quite hard but I have managed to learn how to use it efficiently. I learnt how to mark (crop people out) using photoshop. I also have made the back round black and put images such as the smoke onto my digipak. My peers liked the smoke as did I, this is why I decided to keep it,  I rubbed out some of the smoke to make it not look so blocky.

Fonts on Photoshop

I plan on using a kind of electric looking font, almost scientific looking, as one of Sparkz songs is named HG, which refers to the periodic table within science so it all ties in.

I plan on using this font, which is called 'slant'.

I also plan on using this font, which is called ' Vermin vibes 2 White'.

I may use this font ' Sixs and Sevens'.

Lastly I plan to maybe use this font, 'Respire'

I know I want my lay out for my front cover is a central image of my artist, and I plan to do it all in black in white so I have a persistent theme throughout.

New ideas for digipak

Because my initial idea for my digipack were not approved by my teacher, I now have to change everything completely. So this is what I'm thinking of doing:

I wanted to put either one of these pictures of Stephane on the front to identify him as the artist.

I wanted to put either of these landscape picturesof london streets as the background of the inside because it would link to the whole concept of the artist being British and from london. I think this would've linked well.

I wanted to use on of these images of the block of flats at the back of the album cover because, again,it links to the whole concept of the artist beig from London and it would just make sense.

Ideas For Album Cover

Here are the images that I am thinking about using, these are shots we took whilst filming video. I thought I would have had to take other images but these images may suffice. I am planning to take more photographs
